About the Role

Our client, a reputable CPA and Business Advisory Firm, is seeking an experienced Year-End Accountant to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing statutory financial statements, annual tax computations, and ensuring full year-end compliance for a portfolio of clients.

This is a specialist role focused on year-end financial reporting, statutory compliance, and tax preparation. It is not a bookkeeping, management accounting, or audit role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare annual statutory financial statements in accordance with IFRS for SMEs and Full IFRS, where applicable.
  • Review and adjust bookkeeping records prepared by clients or junior accountants to ensure accuracy before year-end reporting.
  • Prepare annual corporate income tax computations and facilitate tax return submissions through the KRA iTax platform.
  • Calculate capital allowances and apply relevant tax adjustments in compliance with Kenyan tax legislation.
  • Prepare comprehensive year-end working paper files to support statutory financial statements and tax computations.
  • Perform year-end reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts including PAYE, VAT, loan accounts, fixed assets, receivables, payables, and general ledger balances.
  • Liaise with clients to resolve accounting queries and obtain information required for statutory reporting.
  • Ensure all client assignments are completed accurately and within agreed timelines.
  • Keep abreast of changes in IFRS, tax legislation, and regulatory requirements affecting clients.
  • Support Partners and Managers in delivering high-quality year-end accounting and compliance services.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • CPA(K) qualification is mandatory.
  • Active ICPAK membership is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years' recent experience in a CPA or professional accounting firm.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing statutory financial statements and annual tax computations for multiple clients.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • IFRS for SMEs and Full IFRS
    • Kenyan Tax Laws
    • KRA iTax
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, CaseWare, or similar accounting systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
