Our client is a Kenyan food processing and export company specializing in premium macadamia nuts and pulses(Cereals). The company sources directly from smallholder farmers and processes its products at a modern facility in Juja, Kiambu County, serving both local and international markets. With a strong focus on quality, food safety, traceability, sustainability, and farmer partnerships, the company has established a growing presence in international markets.
Job Summary
The Human Resource Manager will oversee the full HR function, with a strong focus on managing sales team performance, incentives, commissions, employee relations, and the administration team. The role will work closely with the Managing Director to ensure the organisation has the right people, structures, performance standards, and HR practices to support its commercial and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Team Performance & HR Management
Oversee attendance, leave, discipline, welfare, and employee relations for the sales team.
Work with management to set, communicate, and monitor individual and team sales targets.
Administer sales commission structures, including accurate calculations, dispute resolution, and coordination with Finance and Payroll.
Develop and maintain performance scorecards and KPIs for sales staff.
Conduct regular performance reviews and identify areas of underperformance.
Implement Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) and support disciplinary processes where required.
Recommend appropriate rewards, incentives, and promotions for high-performing employees.
Coordinate onboarding, induction, and training for new sales employees.
Maintain accurate records relating to sales targets, commissions, performance, and employment documentation.
2. Office & Administration Team Management
Supervise the office and administrative team, ensuring clear responsibilities and accountability.
Monitor attendance, punctuality, conduct, and employee performance.
Conduct performance appraisals and support staff development.
Ensure compliance with company policies, workplace standards, and procedures.
Handle employee grievances and escalate serious matters to the Managing Director where necessary.
3.Core HR Functions
Manage end-to-end recruitment and selection for sales, administrative, and other business roles.
Prepare and maintain employment contracts, job descriptions, HR policies, and employee documentation.
Ensure compliance with Kenyan employment legislation and statutory HR requirements.
Coordinate statutory obligations including NSSF, SHIF, PAYE, and other applicable requirements in liaison with Finance.
Manage employee relations, disciplinary procedures, grievances, and exits in accordance with due process.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR information systems.
Support workforce planning, organisational structure, staffing plans, and HR budgeting.
Promote employee engagement, a positive workplace culture, and consistent application of HR policies.
Provide HR advice and support to management on employee and organisational matters.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
A Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management is an added advantage.
Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a generalist HR role.
Demonstrable experience supporting or managing sales teams, particularly in performance management and commission structures.
Good knowledge of the Kenyan Employment Act, labour relations, and statutory HR requirements.
IHRM membership or active pursuit of professional certification is an added advantage.
